It’s next to impossible to describe Chakrata without a heavy dose of superlatives. Located in the Land of gods as they say Dev Bhumi, Uttrakhand. An unique cantonment town situated at 6,949 ft elevation.

With all the odds managed to execute a spontaneous vacation with no such lavish arrangements but a remarkable one. One of the major setback was “Nainital’s houseful “news which eventually made us think twice about the population control in Uttarakhand as well. Nevertheless the destination wasn’t a known one, it’s a small town of Uttarakhand with less civilization, called Chakrata.

I stayed at Makhti Pokhri, in a small hotel with all solar power. It’s not a place where we can expect five star hotel treatment but yes a decent one to stay.

Ram Taal

Visiting the sunset point known as Ram taal garden was rejuvenating, peaceful with lush green ground. Next morning at the terrace we could see the rising sun with kaleidoscopic colors spreading all over the sky just like a bird spreading her wings.

Not all places you visit make you feel like Chakrata..

The entire area is filled with various cultivation such as Potato, Arbi (Taro root), Apricot and what not. Chakrata is majorly a cantonment area with very less civilization.

Tiger water falls

One of the major attractions is Tiger water falls, it’s the second most beautiful one after Hudroo falls. But as it says; No pain No gain, we trekked for 1 km. The pressure of the waterfall was extreme. A lot of tourists were bathing provided there were changing rooms as well.

The trip was short with inhalation of pure air, our eyes filled with the green land views and of course the cool breeze to relax our minds to back to the grind again.
